The name Panagia Eleousa is of Greek origin, and contemporarily translates as Madonna of Tenderness, or Showing Mercy (also as Virgin of Loving Kindness). Living within a tradition with so many churches painted with Orthodox icons, our Christian theme is significantly influenced by the Eastern Orthodoxy, of course, with many modern elements of color and composition.
